Random choice
A few built-in lists, or your own.
Pick a built-in list or paste your own. One item is chosen with equal odds.
Same rule as the decision maker: trivial choices only.
Built-in lists, or yours
Random choice picks one item from a built-in list or from a list you paste, with equal odds. The built-in lists are deliberately harmless: small prompts for a break, a word, a tiny constraint. Your own list should be the same kind of harmless. The rule is the same as the decision maker. Trivial choices only. Do not use the tool to assign work to people who are not in the room, to pick a winner for anything that matters, or to make a health or money decision look fated. Equal odds among bad options are still bad options. Edit the list before you roll.
A pasted list stays in the page. It is not a Mindz account object. Refresh and it can disappear. That is fine, because the pick is something you were supposed to use immediately or ignore. If you need a durable rule, write it in the habit tracker as a checklist you chose, not as a roll you repeat every morning. Repeating a roll is how people avoid choosing a policy. Policies are allowed to be boring and fixed. Not everything should be fresh.
Play versus abdication
There is a playful use that Mindz likes: you are stuck starting, and a random constraint unsticks you. Write a paragraph that must include a random word. Take a walk toward a random nearby category of place. Cook from three things the list names. Constraint is a cousin of creativity, and the creativity test on this site is full of that idea. A constraint you chose to obey for ten minutes is play. A constraint you obey because you do not trust yourself to pick is abdication. You can feel the difference in your body. Relief that feels like a game is play. Relief that feels like you disappeared is abdication. Stop when it is the second one.
The yes/no coin and the decision maker are the adjacent drawers. Random number is the drawer for integers. This page is the drawer for words and short options. None of them learn your taste. If a picker learned your taste, it would become a recommender, and recommenders are a different ethics. Mindz does not want that power, and the architecture does not take it. The mental age test asks about taste in a way you can read and disagree with. Prefer that, when the question is really about you. Prefer this, when the question is which mug to use.
Keep the main result in its place
It is possible to wander Mindz from tool to tool and never take the mental age test. The tools are useful alone. The site still wants the test to be the spine, because that is the honest description of the product: a mental age mirror, explained at length, with games and tools around it so the visit can be more than a single score. If you have been rolling lists for fun, good. When you want the thing the homepage is about, open the test. The profile will be more interesting than a random word, and it will also be easier to overread, which is why the reading is long.
A random prompt can be a way into the reflection note: pick a word, write two sentences that include a real scene, stop. That is a better creative exercise than rerolling until the word feels inspirational. Inspiration is an unreliable filter. It selects for mood. A slightly wrong word makes a more specific sentence. Specific sentences are the only reflection worth storing, and even those should stay off a shared machine.
Done is part of the instruction
Roll once. Use it or laugh and choose for yourself. Do not build a spreadsheet of rolls. There is no best random. If the built-in list bores you, paste six of your own and delete the built-in temptation to browse. Browsing lists is a way to look busy. The focus timer is the stricter tool if what you needed was a start. This one is a nudge.
From here, the house rules apply. Mental age is the suggested return. A quiz is optional and lighter. A game is optional and scored for reasons that do not apply to this tool. Nothing about the roll is saved to your history, so the dashboard will not show it, and there is nothing to clear. If you email Mindz about a feature, the address is hello@mindz.online. Please do not send a list of private options and ask the site to keep it. The point of the tool is that the site does not keep it.
Stay with Mindz
Mental age is the main mirror. These games, tools, and quizzes look at one habit at a time, and they stay on this device.
