Random decision maker

Put choices on separate lines. Mindz picks one.

Use it when the options are genuinely close and the cost of choosing wrong is small: lunch, a film, which chore first.

Do not use a random pick for anything safety-critical, medical, legal, or financial.

A coin for lists

The decision maker takes a list, one choice per line, and picks one at random with equal odds. It is for genuine ties with a small cost: lunch, a film, which chore first, which of three similar errands. It is not for anything safety-critical, medical, legal, or financial. Randomness is a way to stop a low-stakes argument with yourself. It is a terrible way to handle a high-stakes one. If you feel disappointed by the pick, you already decided. Ignore the tool. That sentence is the most useful thing on the page, and it applies every time.

The list never leaves the browser. Mindz does not collect your options, because the pick is computed here and the options are not a product. Do not paste secrets into the box on a shared computer anyway. Local pages are still local screens. Close the tab if the list was private. There is no account tying the list to you, and there is also no recovery if you refresh before you have used the answer. Write the pick down elsewhere if you need it. The tool is a moment, not a record.

Why equal odds are the whole design

Weighting options would turn the tool into a second quiz about how much you like each line. That is a different product, and it invites you to encode the decision you are avoiding. Equal odds are honest. If the options are not actually close, do not use the tool. Remove the options you already know you will resent. A random pick among dishonest options is how people blame a website for a choice they framed badly. Keep two to six lines. A list of thirty is not indecision. It is a brainstorm that has not been edited, and the reflection note or a piece of paper is a better place to edit it.

The yes/no tool is the same idea with a coin instead of a list. Random choice, further down the tools, uses built-in lists or your own. Use this page when the list is specific to today. Use those pages when you do not even have a list. None of them accumulate wisdom. They are mechanical. The mental age test is where Mindz is willing to be interpretive, and even there the interpretation is fenced in by a disclaimer. Do not ask a random picker to become the interpretive one.

Decision style, risk, and the main test

If you have taken the decision quiz, you already have a story about fast, deliberate, social, or values-first habits. The tool is a place to practice the fast path on purpose when the quiz said you stall, or to see your disappointment clearly when the quiz said you are fast and the picker still bothers you. Disappointment is data. It means a value was hiding in an option. Name the value, then decide without the tool. That is the deliberate path, used at the right size.

Risk style is the other neighbor. A seeker who feels thrilled by a random pick is being entertained, which is fine at the scale of lunch. An avoider who feels relief has outsourced a tiny uncertainty, which is also fine once. If you notice you cannot choose anything without the button, stop using the button. The habit is no longer low-stakes. Mental age will not tell you what to eat. It might show a high planning bar, which often correlates with building elaborate choosers for trivial choices. The remedy is not another system. It is eating the lunch.

After the pick

Do the thing the tool picked, or consciously override it and admit you overrode it. Silent overriding is how the tool becomes theater. If you overrode it, you learned what you wanted. That was a successful use. Then leave the page. You do not need a second spin unless the first pick was in a category you should have deleted. Second spins are where people fish for the answer they wanted while pretending the universe is choosing.

Continue on Mindz at the mental age test if that is still undone. It is the main page of the product. The decision quiz is optional color. Games will not help you choose, and that is a relief. The habit tracker can hold a recurring choice you have now made a rule, so you do not reroll it every morning. Privacy stays local. The picker uses the browser's random source. Do not use it for cryptography, gambling, or anything where fairness has to be proved to another person. It is a kitchen tool.

Stay with Mindz

Mental age is the main mirror. These games, tools, and quizzes look at one habit at a time, and they stay on this device.
